Washington (Daily Pakistan Online) American diplomat Zalmay Khalilzad opposed the arrests and killing of political leaders in Pakistan and called the election the solution to Pakistan’s problems.
In a statement on Twitter, Zalmay Khalilzad said, “Pakistan is currently facing triple crises: political, economic and security. Despite its great potential, it is underperforming and far behind its rival India.” This is a time for introspection, bold thinking and strategy.”
Zalmay Khalilzad said “Genocide in Pakistan by imprisoning, hanging, killing etc. leaders is the wrong way. The arrest of Imran Khan will deepen the crisis. I emphasize 2 steps:
1. Set a date for the national elections in early June to prevent confusion.
2. Let the major political parties use this time to work out what has gone wrong and propose a specific plan to save the country and put it on the path of stability, security and prosperity. Whichever party wins the election will get the people’s mandate on what to do.”
It should be noted that Zalmay Khalilzad is a senior diplomat of the United States who was the ambassador of the United States to Afghanistan, Iraq and the United Nations. In addition, he was also the special representative of the United States to Pakistan and Afghanistan and he signed the peace agreement between the United States and the Afghan Taliban. He played an important role in doing it.
