In the case of poisoning female students in schools, Iran arrested more than 100 people…

Tehran (Daily Pakistan Online) Iran has announced more than 100 arrests across the country in connection with the mysterious poisoning of thousands of schoolgirls. Iran has alleged that the unidentified alleged perpetrators may have links to ‘hostile’ groups. The series of poisoning attacks in Iran’s schools began in late November. The female students would report an ‘unpleasant’ smell in the school premises and then experience fainting, nausea, difficulty in breathing and other symptoms.

According to Iran’s state media, the Interior Ministry has announced arrests over suspected poisoning attacks at more than 200 schools, sparking fear and anger among students and their parents.

In a statement issued by the official news agency IRNA, the ministry said, “After identifying more than 100 people responsible for the recent incidents at the school, they were arrested and investigated.” “Fortunately, there has been a significant reduction in the number of cases in schools since the middle of last week and there have been no reports of sick students,” the ministry added.

The statement pointed to possible links to an exiled Iranian opposition group based in Albania that Tehran considers a “terrorist” organization, the Popular Mujahideen of Iran or Mujahideen-e-Khalq (MEK).
