On Friday morning, about 2,000 suspects belonging to various gangs were transferred to a prison with a capacity of 40,000 people. It is considered to be the largest prison in the Americas (North America, South America). In a video posted by Bokel, inmates wearing white shorts with shaved heads can be seen running from the new prison to their cells.
El Salvador’s populist leader, Vice Buquel, has been engaged in a highly controversial year-long ‘war’ against the country’s notorious gangs, and as a result a significant number of various gang members are now in prison. After the war against their gangs, more than 60 thousand gang members have been arrested.
