Tehran (Daily Pakistan Online) An Iranian foundation has praised the man who attacked controversial writer Salman Rushdie last year. The foundation has said that they will reward the attacker with 1,000 square meters of agricultural land.
Rushdie, 75, lost an eye and a hand in August after a 24-year-old man from New Jersey attacked him on stage at a literary event near Lake Erie in western New York, according to Reuters.
Mohammad Ismail Zari, secretary of the Foundation for the Implementation of Imam Khomeini’s Fatwas, said: ‘We are deeply grateful for the heroic action of this young American who blinded Rushdie in one eye and disabled one of his hands. made the Muslims happy. Rushdie is now nothing more than a living corpse, to pay tribute to this heroic act, about 1000 square meters of agricultural land will be donated to the attacker or his legal representative.’
The attack was carried out 33 years after Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini issued a fatwa. The fatwa called on Muslims to kill Salman Rushdie a few months after his blasphemous novel was published.
