Google Chrome is the most popular web browser in the world, but it uses a lot of computer memory or RAM to open websites.

As a result, users of Google Chrome often experience slow computers or reduced laptop battery life.

Considering these issues, Google announced to introduce 2 new modes named Memory Saver and Energy Saver in December 2022.

Now these features are available to all Google Chrome users.

To access these new modes, open Settings in Google Chrome and go to the Performance section.

With Memory Saver Mode you can optimize your system memory usage.

Memory saver mode works to ‘freeze’ open tabs in the Chrome browser to save memory and not slow down the device.

When Memory Saver is activated, a needle gauge icon appears on the right side of the address bar to show how much memory a tab has saved.

In contrast, the Energy Saver mode helps conserve battery power.

According to Google, Chrome uses 30% less memory when using memory saver mode.

Enabling Energy Mode limits background activity while high refresh rate features or smooth scrolling and visual effects are turned off.
