
New Delhi (Daily Pakistan Online) Since 2011, more than 1.6 million Indians have renounced their Indian citizenship, including 225,620 people in the previous year.
Which is the highest during this period, while the lowest was 85,256 in 2020.
According to NDTV, the number of Indians who renounced their citizenship was provided by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in response to a question in the Rajya Sabha. S Jaishankar said that the number of Indians who renounced their Indian citizenship in 2015 was 1,31,489, while 1,41,603 people renounced their Indian citizenship in 2016 and 1,33,049 in 2017.
He said that in 2018, the number was 1,34,561, while in 2019, 1,44,017, 85,256 in 2020 and 1,63,370 in 2021 renounced their citizenship. Jaishankar said that 1,22,819 Indians renounced their citizenship in 2011, compared to 1,20,923 in 2012, 1,31,405 in 2013 and 1,29,328 in 2014.
He said that a certain number of Indian citizens are in America on H1B and L1 visas. The Indian government has been constantly raising the issue of migration of skilled people, especially IT professionals, with the US government.
