According to the American Geological Survey, the magnitude of the earthquake was recorded at 7.8, the epicenter was 17.8 kilometers deep in the south of Turkey, the tremors were felt for one minute. The earthquakes were felt in Syria, Greece, Cyprus, Georgia, Armenia, They have also been felt in Lebanon and Jordan.

According to the Turkish authorities, the intensity of the recent earthquake was the highest in the last 90 years. In 1939, an earthquake of magnitude 7.8 occurred in Turkey, which killed more than 30,000 people.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has declared a state of emergency after the terrible earthquake in the country, while educational institutions have also been closed in the cities affected by the earthquake. Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Agency has appealed for help from the international community. The agency says that 78 aftershocks have been felt since the earthquake.
