“Any change in the battlefield from the West’s long-range weapons …

Moscow (Daily Pakistan Online) The Kremlin has said that any supply of long-range weapons by Western countries to Ukraine will not change Russia’s military objectives in Ukraine or the fighting on the battlefield. There will be a change. Kyiv has begun asking its military backers for advanced fighter jets and long-range missiles to strike targets deep inside Russian-controlled territory.

“This is a direct way to de-escalate and (raise the level of fighting),” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters. It will require more effort on our part but again it will not change the course of events.’ According to news agency AFP, Peskov was responding to reporters referring to unconfirmed reports that Washington was planning to give Ukraine a missile with a range of 150 km.

Ukraine’s allies have so far refused to supply the weapons over fears they could be used to hit targets inside Russia, further escalating the conflict.

Peskov also told reporters on Wednesday that the Kremlin is not considering any new plans for talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden. Biden said Tuesday that he would discuss Ukraine’s latest requests for advanced weapons with President Volodymyr Zelensky. Ukraine’s demands for fighter jets and long-range missiles come after Western countries last week decided to give heavy tanks to Kyiv’s forces after long deliberations.
