In one of his messages from Delhi’s infamous Tihar Jail, Alam Butt appealed to Kashmiris living in India’s illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and around the world to observe this day as Black Day.
He said that India is involved in war crimes against humanity in the occupied territory and has no right to claim itself as a major democratic country. Meanwhile, senior Hurriyat leader Naeem Ahmed Khan urged the Kashmiri people to They should celebrate India’s Republic Day as a Black Day.
In his message, the leader detained in Tihar Jail condemned India’s illegal and forced occupation of Jammu and Kashmir and said that the Indian rulers have let the people of Jammu and Kashmir decide their political fate through a free, fair and impartial referendum. Despite its promises of mediation, it has chosen a violent path to suppress the aspirations of the Kashmiri people by force.
A spokesman for the Democratic Freedom Party said in a statement that India is complicit in killings and destruction in Kashmir and has held millions of Kashmiris hostage at gunpoint and has no right to celebrate Republic Day.
