Davos (Daily Pakistan Online) In a speech at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos on Thursday morning, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he does not understand at all whether Russian President Vladimir Putin is alive. He made these remarks at the Ukrainian Breakfast, a private event. A video of Zelinsky’s comments surfaced on Twitter. Russian leaders hit back, saying the Ukrainian president would “prefer Russia and Putin not to exist”.
Speaking at the breakfast event, according to NDTV, Zelenskiy said, “Today I don’t quite understand who to talk to and about. I’m not sure that the president of Russia, who sometimes wears green. Seen in front of the screen, right. I don’t really understand if they’re alive, if they’re making decisions, or who’s making decisions there.”
“I don’t understand at all how you can promise one thing to European leaders, and the next day launch a full-scale attack on a state. I don’t understand at all who we’re dealing with,” he added. When we say “peace talks”, I don’t quite understand with whom.”
Hours after his speech, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov issued a strong denial. Fox News quoted him as saying, “It’s clear that both Russia and Putin are a big problem for Ukraine and for Zelenskyi. And it’s clear that, purely psychologically, Mr. Zelenskyi would prefer that “Neither is Russia, nor is Putin. The sooner they realize that Russia exists and will remain, the better for a country like Ukraine.”
