Microsoft has announced the dismissal of 10,000 employees. Microsoft’s chief executive, Satya Nadella, said in a memo to employees that 10,000 employees of the company are being laid off due to the economic uncertainty and now more attention is being paid. Areas like facial intelligence will be focused on.
The layoffs began on January 18 and will be completed by March.
In total, about 5 percent of the company’s workforce will be laid off.
The company refrained from specifying which sectors of employees would be most affected, but according to media reports, the engineering division would be the most affected.
Satya Nadella said that such decisions are difficult but necessary.
Earlier, Microsoft had laid off around 1,000 employees in October 2022.
Along with the reduction in the number of employees, Microsoft will also work on various cost-cutting projects to help save $1.2 billion.
Prior to Microsoft, Meta, Amazon, Twitter and many other technology companies had laid off thousands of employees.
