Berlin (Daily Pakistan Online) Environmental activist Greta Thunberg was briefly detained during a protest against the expansion of a coal mine in Germany. In one of her tweets, Greta Thunberg said that protecting the climate is not a crime. ‘Yesterday I was part of a group that peacefully protested against coal mine expansion in Germany. We were surrounded by the police and then detained but released that evening.’
According to the Reuters news agency, Greta Thunberg was detained along with other activists who were protesting against the demolition of the village of Luetzerath for the expansion of an open pit coal mine owned by RWE. Thunberg was escorted by three police officers and led back to the police van, holding him by one arm at a point on the side of the mine. However, they were released later in the evening.
