Washington (Daily Pakistan Online) US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has congratulated General Asim Munir on his appointment as Pakistan’s Army Chief and said that the two countries have a long-standing defense partnership.
According to a statement released by the Pentagon, Austin called General Asim Munir and congratulated him on his appointment as Chief of Army Staff. Areas of mutual interest as well as recent regional developments were discussed in the telephonic conversation.
Lloyd Austin said ‘Today I had the opportunity to congratulate the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, General Asim Munir.’
In a tweet, he said that the US and Pakistan have a long-standing defense partnership and I look forward to working with General Asim Munir.
