Kabul (Daily Pakistan Online) A suicide bomber blew himself up near the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, killing more than 20 people. The Chinese delegation was going to meet here.
According to news agency AFP, a team of them was conducting interviews next door inside the Ministry of Information when the explosion occurred. Jamshed Karimi, a company driver waiting outside, saw a man with a bag and a rifle slung over his shoulder. ‘He drove past my car and after a few seconds there was a loud explosion. I saw the man blow himself up.’
Kabul Police Spokesman Khalid Zadran has confirmed the explosion and said that unfortunately there was a loss of life as a result, security teams have reached the area. “A Chinese delegation was supposed to come to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, but we don’t know if they were there at the time of the explosion,” Deputy Information and Culture Minister Mehajer Farahi told AFP.
The most heart-wrenching pictures and videos after the explosion have emerged on social media, in which dead bodies and injured people can be seen. In a picture, it can be seen that several bodies are lying outside the Foreign Office. Another photo shows injured people trying to get help.
At least five Chinese nationals were injured when gunmen stormed a hotel popular with Chinese businessmen in Kabul last month.
