Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) successfully completed the first artificial organ transplant operation.
According to reports, the Department of Prosthodontics of Sindh Institute of Oral Health Sciences of JSMU has successfully completed the first case of implanting artificial organs on the face.
The process of implanting artificial organs on the eyes, face, nose and inner parts of the mouth of the patient from Umarkot district was completed by a team of 8 members headed by Prof. Mahmood Hussain while the technical services were provided by Western Laboratory.
Jinnah Sindh Medical University Vice Chancellor Professor Amjad Siraj Memon congratulated the team of SIOHS and Department of Prosthodontics for crossing the important milestone.
Professor Amjad Siraj Memon says that people with facial disfigurement due to an accident start to feel alone in the society, in such a case the process of implanting artificial limbs will play an effective role in connecting these people with the society.
SIOHS Dean Prof. Yawar Ali Abidi and Principal Prof. Zubair Abbasi appreciated the efforts of the Prosthodontics Department team and assured all possible support for the management of prosthetic limbs.
