According to “Al-Arabiya” news agency, Farida Murad Khani, the niece of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, was sentenced to three years in prison for supporting the long protest against the killing of “Mahsa Amini” in the custody of the moral police. Farida Muradkhani was arrested in November for announcing her support for anti-government protesters. Muradkhani has been outspoken against the Iranian government’s actions.

Farida Murad Khani’s lawyer Mohammad Hussain Agassi wrote in a tweet that “Morad Khani has called on the international community to end relations with Iran.” According to the lawyer, Murad Khani was initially sentenced to 15 years in prison. However, this was reduced on appeal, with his case being tried in Iran’s Special Court, which hears only the cases of religious leaders and is accountable to the Supreme Leader.
