A group of physicians have claimed that Elon Musk’s company Neuralink is harvesting and killing monkeys to build a ‘brain-machine interface’.
The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) recently released details on its website, claiming that monkeys were tortured in experiments conducted at the University of California, Davis, USA. are
The institute shared lab notes detailing multiple surgeries on monkeys that revealed electrodes being implanted during surgery.
The notes also featured the name of Neuralink’s head neurosurgeon, Matthew McDougal.
PCRM’s Reena Pohl said the university provided the lab notes after the institute filed a lawsuit in February. But he clarified that these experiments were carried out by employees of Neuralink.
The lawsuit filed alleges that the electrodes implanted in the brain caused the animals to suffer infections and that the uncertified bio-glue caused parts of the monkeys’ brains to malfunction, killing them.
Immediately, it was clear that something had gone wrong during the surgery. A handwritten note stated that both front (rostral) and back (caudal) feet of the implant “broke off of xternal connector base.” (5/12) pic.twitter.com/hRfN9AVgU6

According to PCRM, the experiments took place at the University of California, Davis, and Neuralink paid $1.4 million to use the university’s facilities.
It should be noted that on November 30, Elon Musk has announced on Twitter to hold an event called ‘Show and Tell’ for the Neuralink company.
The annual event featured plans to chip the brain of a pig in 2020 and a monkey in 2021, which later died.
