A former teacher in the German city of Frankfurt has been charged with sexually abusing more than 100 children and teenagers. Local prosecutors confirmed to DW that they have charged a former teacher with more than 100 counts of sexually abusing children and teenagers.
According to the news agency AFP, a 47-year-old man from Göttingen has been in custody since January this year. The crimes are said to have taken place from 1998 to late 2021.
What do we know about the case?
The accused is accused of serious sexual abuse of children and others in his care. German authorities were alerted by US investigators, who alleged that the man had spread child sexual abuse material on the Internet. A search of the man’s apartment turned up clues to his alleged crimes recorded on data storage devices.
The indictment includes 64 counts of abuse of children under the age of 14 and 35 counts of abuse of minors between the ages of 14 and 17.
