BEIJING: China’s National Health Commission said on Sunday that 39,791 new Covid cases were confirmed in China on November 26. Of these, 3709 cases were symptomatic and 36082 asymptomatic. Compared to this, 35183 cases were reported a day ago. Of these, 3474 were symptomatic and 31709 were asymptomatic infections. Thus, China counts corona cases separately. The news agency Reuters reported this.
Excluding imported infections, China reported 39,506 new local cases. Of these, 3,648 were symptomatic and 35,858 asymptomatic, as against 34,909 a day earlier. A day earlier, one death had occurred, taking the total death toll to 5,233. As of November 26, China had confirmed 307,802 cases with symptoms.
Such is the situation when Beijing’s strict zero-covid policy shuts down entire cities even for mild outbreaks of the epidemic.
