Twitter’s new owner, Elon Musk, has decided to take a big hit at Metta-owned messaging app WhatsApp. According to a new report, Elon Musk has ordered Direct Messages (DM) to be end-to-end encrypted. .

Similarly, they also want to introduce encrypted video and voice calling features in Twitter.

Elon Musk made this directive during a meeting with Twitter employees.

Slides titled Twitter 2.0 were presented during the November 21 meeting.

On this occasion, Elon Musk said that consumers want messages and communication services that no one has access to so that their privacy can be protected.

Twitter started working on making direct messages encrypted some time ago, but then stopped it.

But Elon Musk wants to make end-to-end encryption a top priority for the company.

Elon Musk said during the meeting that he wants Twitter 2.0 to ensure that no one can access a user’s DMs, even if someone holds a gun to their head.

He said that features of voice and video chats which are end-to-end encrypted should also be added to DM itself.

During the meeting, Elon Musk praised the encrypted messaging app Signal, saying that Signal’s founders might also help Twitter make DMs encrypted.
