Gaza: At least 21 people, including seven children, were killed and more than 30 injured in a massive fire in a residential building in the northern Gaza Strip of Palestine on Thursday. Security and medical sources reported this.
Indonesian hospital director Saleh Abu Laila said that some of the injured are in critical condition and the death toll from the fire in the Tal Zatar area of the Jabalia refugee camp is expected to rise. The Palestinian Civil Defense announced in a statement that it had dispatched aid teams and several security personnel to the scene.
The interior ministry in Gaza said in a statement that preliminary investigations indicated that the fire may have been caused by a large amount of fuel stored inside the building. Local sources and eyewitnesses said that the residential building belonged to the Abu Riya family, where a member of the family was celebrating his long-awaited return from Egypt.
